At the eve of the 58th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, hopes are up for Thailand’s Gems and Jewelry market which forecasts a growth of 10 percent in exports this year.
Opening the fair, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said that the gems and jewellery exports are expected to reach $7.9 billion this year, marking a 10 percent growth. “Thai gems and jewellery prospects remain promising as indicated by the transaction value of the first two days of the fair, which reached almost 7 billion baht, with 12,000 visitors,” she remarked. The Minister also added that the number of visitors are expected to exceed 30,000 and transactions are expected to reach 15 billion baht.
The fair is annually conducted by the International Trade Promotion department and this year’s edition is emphasized on “the advancing role of Thai jewelry industry on the international stage through increased trade opportunities by expanding the extensive list of local and regional traders to prominent global buyers. The fair also showcases latest trends in the jewelry along with designs from master jewelers. Authorities strive to make the fair the best of its kind in the world, which now stands fifth in place after those held in Hong Kong, Italy, US and Switzerland, in that order. The fair displays about 700 companies/ 2,000+ booths from selected domestic and overseas exhibitors. Products include ambers, diamonds, pearls, precious metal, precious stones, rough stones, semi-precious stones, synthetics, costume jewelry, fashion jewelry, gold jewelry, silver jewelry, jewelry display & packaging, equipment & tools, jewelry parts, machinery, etc.
The fair will also feature fully integrated supply-chain business matching service, trend forum, design zone, fashion show, special showcases, seminars & conferences.
